2025 Corvette Rumored to Ditch ‘Wall of Buttons’ (Yet Again)

If this new rumor suggesting the wall of buttons is going away in the 2025 Corvette sounds familiar, that’s because you’ve heard it before.

When the C8 Corvette debuted back in the 2020 model year, it garnered immediate, universal praise, and for good reason – here was a mid-engine sports car that looks and performs like pricey exotics, yet it had a price tag (at the time) that started just a tick under $60k, making it an incredible bargain. Complaints about the new Corvette were – and still are – few and far between, but perhaps one of the most common is the “wall of buttons” that adorns the interior, separating the driver and passenger with, well, a long line of buttons that control various things. Some love it, some hate it, but a new rumor from CorvetteBlogger suggests that this feature may soon be going away.

This bit of speculation apparently comes straight from Corvettes at Carlisle, where the folks at CorvetteBlogger heard –  second-hand – that a group of GM engineers were talking about future products in a tent, and it was overheard that the decision to remove the great wall of buttons has already been made, and will take effect starting with the 2025 Corvette.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the button wall was on the chopping block, as rumors of its demise first began to appear back in 2021. Originally, the Corvette was reportedly slated to receive a bit of an interior refresh for the 2023 model year that would result in its removal, moving those controls to other places in the cockpit. Then, another rumor surfaced that this change would take place in 2024, but neither has come to fruition, obviously.

Regardless, if the 2025 Corvette does indeed come along with this particular interior revision, some expect GM to simply “flatten” the wall, giving it a more conventional look without such a large divider between the driver and passenger, an idea that the folks over at Mid Engine Corvette Forum rendered, and it looks pretty good, truthfully.

What’s particularly interesting about the wall of buttons, however, is that while much of the press has criticized it, it seems as if many actual C8 owners like this feature. Take the folks right here at CorvetteForum, for example, some of whom have even described this feature as “perfect,” and many are just happy that the newest Corvette still has physical buttons while many models have ditched them – in some cases, almost all physical buttons in favor of screen-based controls. Thus, if the wall of buttons’ days are indeed limited, perhaps not everyone will be happy about this change, after all.
